Marco Martins proposes in WILD a reflection on the use of the mask in ritualistic practices that, since time
immemorial, collectively mark crucial moments in Europe, such as the equinoxes
and solstices, integrating characters such as the Wild Man, the Bear, the Goat
or the Devil.
We are increasingly a society of masks that hide behind a virtual world.
What is the current meaning of mask? How can living with the sanitary mask
transform each person's activity, activism and identity? We live in a daily
life full of avatars, caricatures, memes, applications that allow you to
transform the face and body and various types of filters capable of blurring
the line between faces and masks. Based on the investigation of the ancestral
meaning of the mask, WILD will map
its value as an identity possibility, as well as the complexity inherent to the
multiplication and intersection of identities.
