In the year of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Revolution, Marco Martins curates a show about the events that took place between June and August 1972 in an unprecedented summer camp for the children of political prisoners located in an estate in Caldas da Rainha. At this place, for two weeks, 18 children between the ages of 3 and 14, previously deeply scared by the arrest of their parents and with a past of clandestinity, sorrow and solitude, learned, for the first time, how to play and be free.
Marco Martins once again gathers a cast that includes non-professional actors to conceive a play firstly inspired by the stories and personal experiences of the children of political prisoners to reach a dramatization that goes beyond the biographical and documental aspects, and in which music will have a determinant role.
In the wake of work of theatrical creation that has been developed for more than a decade specifically with fragile and peripheral communities, here the monumental scenic space is confronted with the human scale, as well as exploring the possibilities it offers in terms of symbolism, scenography and imagery.
