The atmosphere is nauseating. Yet they breathe it in.
The moment their employer leaves the house, fantasy unleashes in the imagination of two sisters who carry themselves away from their own lives in an imperative escape from a miserable existence. Through Marco Martins’s interpretation of Genet’s text, the stage becomes an enclosed space where Beatriz Batarda, Sara Carinhas and Luísa Cruz explore the different identities of characters in the making.
“Rejecting the virtues of your world, criminals irrevocably agree to the establishment of a parallel universe. They agree to inhabit this universe. The atmosphere is nauseating: yet they are able to breathe it in.”
